Breaking News: Russian Man Killed in Shark Attack in Red Sea

Egyptian authorities ban swimming near beach

Authorities placed focus on marine safety in the Red Sea

Suez, Egypt - A Russian man has died after being attacked by an oceanic whitetip shark in the Red Sea, prompting Egyptian authorities to ban swimming near a beach at an Egyptian Red Sea resort.

The victim was taken to a private hospital immediately after the attack but died from circulatory failure, according to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism. The incident follows a series of shark attacks in the Red Sea, casting a spotlight on marine safety in the popular tourist destination.

Egyptian authorities have banned swimming near the beach at the Sharm el-Sheikh resort, where the attack occurred. The ban will remain in place until further notice, as authorities investigate the incident and assess the safety of the area.

Oceanographic researcher Jacques Cousteau once described the oceanic whitetip shark as one of the most dangerous sharks. The species is known for its aggressive behavior and is often associated with attacks on humans.
