455 Killed as Bus Plummets into Ravine in Pakistan

At Least 11,000 Injured in Horrific Crash

Officials Say Bus Was Overloaded, Speeding on Dangerous Road

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — At least 455 people were killed and more than 11,000 injured when a bus plunged into a ravine on Sunday in southern Pakistan, the deadliest traffic accident in the country's history.

According to officials, the bus was carrying more than 150 passengers when it skidded off the road and fell into a deep ravine in the mountainous district of Lasbela, Balochistan province.

The bus was reportedly speeding and overloaded, with many passengers sitting on the roof, witnesses said.

Rescue workers, including police and paramilitary forces, worked throughout the night to retrieve bodies and rescue injured passengers.

Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed condolences to the victims' families and ordered an investigation into the incident.

Pakistan has a poor road safety record, with thousands of people killed in traffic accidents each year due to reckless driving, poorly maintained roads, and overloaded vehicles.
